The Norway OSPAs 2018 event was held at Edderkoppen in Oslo on Thursday 20th September, as part of the NSR’s annual Security Conference. Norway was the first country to hold an OSPAs ceremony, and once again it was a pleasure to work alongside NSR in organising the event.
Founder of the OSPAs, Professor Martin Gill, comments on the ceremony:
“The fourth Norwegian OSPAs took place today in Oslo. The judges felt that the competition this year was the most intense. It was inspiring to see how much the awards mean. Many congratulations to the finalists and the winners.”
The jury consisted of security experts from both the public and the private sector. This year’s winners are listed below:
Outstanding New Security Product – MailRisk
“This is very important to us. We are a small company and we can’t reach everyone we want to. I hope people will ask about us now. We are very committed to what we do and this adds credibility to us, it is a type of independent reference. It goes without saying we are delighted, absolutely.”
Outstanding In-House Security Manager / Director – Asbjørn Ringstad
“With so many good candidates it was a surprise to win. The team delivered with me, and I am taking that approach, I accept it for us. The key is to focus on the different elements. I am delighted.”
Outstanding Security Consultant – Roar Thon
“It is an honour not least because I know who has won before and I know who was nominated and I have great respect for them. I speak a lot about Security and I have a lot of back up from colleagues and I am their representative today, it is an award for them too.”
Outstanding Security Training Initiative – Fylkesberedskapssjef Jan Helge Kaiser
“I am humble but very proud. Most importantly this raises attention to the importance of cooperation between public private sectors and that is definitely important. I am really pleased today.”
Lifetime Achievement Award – Tor Langrud
“It is really an honour. I appreciate all the trust and sharing of knowledge amongst colleagues, it has been important for me. It is true of public and commercial sectors. Of course I am very pleased.”
We would like to thank Finans Norge for being the main sponsor of the event. We would also like to thank Norsk Sikkerhetsforening for supporting the OSPAs.
Thank you to Edith Cowan University, our trophy sponsor.
